Guidelines for submission of SBTE 2022 abstracts
1. General information:
Only abstracts of unpublished and original works, submitted online until April 28, 2022, prepared according to the detailed instructions below will be accepted. Important: Authors may submit the abstract in only one language, either Portuguese or English. Submissions in both languages will not be accepted.
Ad hoc reviewers appointed by the Scientific Committee and Area Coordinators will evaluate submitted abstracts. After corrections and final acceptance, abstracts must be presented at the poster session during the 35th Annual Meeting of SBTE.
The absence of a person responsible for the presentation of the work during the poster session at the event will incur a penalty to be decided by the Scientific Committee and the abstract will be automatically disqualified from any SBTE competition category.
Each registered participant may submit a single abstract as the main author (first author) of the work. Submissions must be made through the SIGEVENTOS system (link will be sent soon). Make sure your email has been entered correctly. All relevant information regarding the SBTE annual meeting and abstracts will be sent via this communication channel. When filling out the submission form, the author must choose one of the following sub-areas in which his/her work will be inserted: (a) FTAI/FTET/AI (b) OPU-IVF and TE (c) Folliculogenesis, oogenesis and superovulation (d) Male reproductive physiology and semen technology (e) Embryology, developmental biology and reproductive physiology (f) Cloning, transgenesis and stem cells (g) Supporting biotechnologies: Cryopreservation and cryobiology, diagnostic imaging, molecular biology and “omics” (i) Innovation and technology. The author must choose, in the submission form, the language of submission and whether the work will compete in any of the award modalities.
2. Instructions for the preparation of ABSTRACTS:
Each work must be sent in the form of an abstract prepared in accordance with the rules below. Authors may choose to submit the abstract in Portuguese or English. Abstracts in English accepted and presented during the meeting will be published in the journal Animal Reproduction.Abstracts in Portuguese accepted and presented during the meeting will be published in the Abstract Notebook of the event and made available on the SBTE website. The English or Portuguese version of the abstract, together with the title, list of authors and affiliations, must be entered in the fields indicated on the submission form. Some abstracts considered to be outstanding in the basic and technology areas will be invited to present in the flash talks session. The flash talk presentation will last for three minutes and must consist of a single slide. The intention is that the author can present his work in a synthetic way and invite the participants to visit his poster, so it is important to be brief and attractive. Eligibility criteria for each award category
Student Competition - basic and applied áreas
Undergraduate, master's or doctoral students can participate in SBTE student competitions. The first author must be a student regularly enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate course. Acceptance of registration in this modality is conditioned to the submission of a document proving the registration of the first author in an undergraduate or postgraduate course. Newly graduated students with a completion or defense date in 2022 will also be accepted for this competition. However, they must be the first author of the abstract and submit a document proving the completion or defense date.
Best Scientific Work - basic and applied areas
The registration in this category is not linked to the Student Competition. Therefore, the first author can be a student or a professional.
Best Work by Field Professionals
The award in the Best Work by Field Professionals category (best technical report) aims to honor the competence, casuistry and observation power of colleagues who work in the field, or in the laboratory, outside universities or research institutions. Therefore, co-authorship by members of academic or research institutions is NOT allowed on competing abstracts in this category.
General rules for all categories
The experimental data presented in the abstract must be original, not previously published in events or journals and obtained by the author. The format must follow the SBTE guidelines for the preparation of abstracts and posters. At all stages, candidates will be evaluated by professionals with recognized experience in the area, designated by the Scientific Committee, who do not have conflicts of interest with the participants in the competition. Selection will be based on SBTE evaluation criteria (content, scientic impact/field impact, clarity of abstract, adequacy of methodology and experimental design, quality of results and conclusions). Student Competition - basic and applied areas All abstracts submitted to the student competition for the basic and applied areas will be sent to ad hoc reviewers who will select 8 abstracts per area. In the second stage, the 8 previously selected abstracts will be presented orally by the first author and questioned by the Judging Committee during the SBTE poster session along with the other posters from each area. Authors must be present with the posters for their presentation. The absence of the first author during the evaluation by the Judging Committee will lead to the disqualification of the work. After the poster session, the 4 best abstracts from each area will be nominated by the Judging Committee as finalists for the oral presentation to be held during the Student Competition session of the XXXV SBTE Annual Meeting (10-12 min; 3 min for questions ) at the time specified in the event schedule. The oral presentation may be followed by a questioning by the Judging Committee. The final classification will be based on the quality of the abstract, poster defense and oral presentation. The announcement of the awards will be held during the Closing Ceremony of the SBTE annual meeting. Only first place will be awarded.
